Why Is My Dog Eating Grass—and Should I Worry?
Many dog parents notice their furry friends munching grass occasionally and immediately wonder—is this normal? Is my dog sick?
Dogs eat grass for several reasons. Most commonly, it’s simply because they enjoy the taste or texture. Grass-eating can also indicate a desire for more fiber in their diet. Sometimes, however, dogs nibble grass when their stomach feels off, using it as a natural remedy to induce vomiting.
If your dog is otherwise happy, playful, and eating normally, occasional grass grazing isn’t cause for alarm. But if they’re frequently vomiting, appear lethargic, or refuse regular food, it might signal gastrointestinal issues, and a quick vet visit is advisable.
To help, ensure your dog’s diet includes enough fiber, and always keep an eye on grass that’s treated with chemicals, as it could harm your pet.
